About Us
The goal of the Mankato Area Mountain Bikers [MAMB] is to organize those interested in creating purpose built singletrack mountain bike trails in the greater Mankato area. Our vision is to build sustainable, environmentally friendly trails that make the most of natural terrain features and are cared for, and maintained, by those in the club.
The Mankato Area Mountain Bikers (MAMB) was formed as a result of the surge in mountain biking in the Mankato area in 2011. We are a group of local cyclists and long-term south central MN trail riders who are passionate about preserving unpaved "natural surface" bicycle trails in the surrounding Mankato and Saint Peter area.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build sustainable, environmentally friendly trails that make the most of natural terrain features and are cared for, and maintained by those in the club.
We believe a free mountain bike trail system is a important for the surrounding communities and gives individuals and families another activity to maintain health and fitness.
Singletrack trails are typically 12 to 18 inches wide and tend to wind around obstacles such as trees, large rocks and bushes. Singletrack blends into the surrounding environment, disturbs much less ground, and is easier to maintain. The tread of singletrack is almost always natural surface, in contrast to the gravel or pavement of paths.
